  About Me


I live in Vancouver, Washington where I am a freelance computer/technology consultant and design engineer.

  • Owen is really into computers

    I got my first computer when I was 9 years old.  The TI-84/A was limited, but fun.   I learned BASIC with that, but it wasn't until I got my Apple ][ + that I really got going.   With that incredible computer, I learned assembly language, and actually began micro-coding the Motorola 6502 Microprocessor.  That's skipping assembly, and using only 0's and 1's.

    From there it was the Intel Platform with an IBM PC-XT, and I have never not owned an Intel Based machine. It was with this platform that I started using high level languages such as Pascal, C, and LIsP.

    I like other things to, I'm not a total geek.

    • Reading books, lots and lots of them.
    • Flying.  Don't have my own plane yet...but soon.
    • Boating. I own a 20 foot Bayliner Capri.
    • Lego and Lego robotics.
    • Numismatics.  I collect U.S. gold coins.
    • Photography.  I sometimes resemble a Japanese tourist.
    • Traveling.  I have been to all but seven states.
    • World Travel.  Been to Europe, Canada and Mexico.
  My Computer Systems

My computers operate on an Ethernet connecting four computers that I fondly refer to as my Four Little Ducks.  The Ducks connect with two online printers, a HP LaserJet III and a HP 930Csi color inkjet.  My internet connection is via a cable modem that is always connected, allowing my continuos communication with the outside world at speeds in access of one-hundred times what I used to achieve with a regular dialup connection over a traditional telephone line.  I seriously recommend this to anyone who lives in an area serviced with this type of technology.  At the very least, get a DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) from the telephone company.

  • RAM is  expanded 108MB. 
  • P-Quack (nickname) looks after me when I am not 'near the net' at home.  At home, he is connected to 'stay current'
